A study protocol on teaching english to people with mild cognitive impairment with the use of songs

Background People with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) need to improve their cognitive functions in order avoid the deterioration of condition. abilities can be improved by learning a foreign language. Due deficits MCI people, conventional methods that teaching English cannot have significant results. The use songs is proved promising method for more effective acquisition language while also improving and symptoms depression anxiety. Method This had been designed combining elements from four methodologies “Communicative Language Teaching”, “Natural Approach”, “(De) suggestopedia” “Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP)”. intervention this study involves randomized controlled trial design two arms (an arm control group) over nine-month period will provided twice week. Participants people aged 60-85 years, both genders. A sample size 90 participants targeted based on expected neuropsychological test performance, drop-out rates. Interventions trained staff group not receiving any but continuing life as usual. Assessments done at baseline, nine months, include tests measure changes cognition. Secondary outcome measures mood anxiety, quality life. All efficacy statistical analysis carried out an intention treat basis. Primary secondary outcomes modeled using linear mixed model repeated measurements further undertaken. Result protocol implementing Greek Association ALzheimer Disease Related Disorders final results announced soon. Conclusion first implement assess trial. We expect could prevent decline, decrease anxiety significantly impact wellbeing MCI.
